If I settle with a collection agency do I still owe the original creditor?

Im trying to fix my credit and am wondering if I settle with the collections agency and get them to delete the report will the original creditor still be reporting a negative "charge off" on my credit report? If so how do I get the original "charge off" to be removed? Thanks for any help!
