So lets say the economy is a Pickup Truck – A truck stuck in the ditch on the side of the road and can’t get traction to pull out of the ditch because of lack of solid ground – your moving slowly forward in the ditch.

Obama came to office (took the wheel) and he gave Congress the credit card and told them to go get a tow truck to pull the economy out of the ditch. Congress instead came back with a bunch of TVs, I-pods, furs, jewels and a couple 2X4s to put under the wheels to help get the truck (economy) out of the ditch. (They spent nearly a trillion dollars, but barely put any of it into things that would help the economy grow).

Now the Fed wanted to make sure it did it’s part and came to the rescue, but instead of a tow truck it brought gas cans to fill up the gas tank. Obama then complains that the gas tank is full (banks & big companies have money) yet they aren’t moving the economy down the road. Obama begins to rail how evil the gas tank is for holding all that gas and not pulling the truck out of the ditch. (Anyone with a little common sense realizes having a full Gas tank doesn’t get you out of the ditch. Your tires are still spinning because you aren’t on firm ground)

Now for some strange reason Obama has decided to get out the water hose and create more mud under the tires of the truck (by pushing for higher taxes) and decided to over inflate the tires of the truck (with greater regulations of industry) He seems to keep trying to steer into the ditch with his actions instead of pulling out of it.

Over the weekend Obama laid out another billion stimulus plan focused on infrastructure of this country over the next 6 years. That’s .33 billion a year or about 1% of the original Stimulus plan – this is like sticking a box of matches under the wheel of the truck and praying the sight of the match strike lighting under the wheel will distract everyone from the fact that the pickup truck doesn’t move.

That is the analogy of the pickup truck as the economy – now the analogy of who is driving the truck.

Obama in his latest speeches about the economy in the ditch keeps saying don’t give the wheel back to the GOP who drove us into the ditch.

This is a bit misleading – If Democrats are Jones and Republicans are the Smith – what Obama is saying George Smith drove us into the ditch so don’t let Eric Smith back behind the wheel.

In 2006 Democrats won control of House & Senate – One of the 2 hands on the wheel of the pickup truck (economy). At the time the pickup truck drove into the ditch in 2008 the hands on the wheel were one of a Republican President and the other a Democrat controlled congress. Obama is now arguing don’t give Republicans the wheel BACK- but it was the Democrats who controlled the Congress’ hand on the wheel when the pickup truck went into the ditch. For the next almost 2 years under the full control of Democrats the pickup truck has inched down the ditch of recession, but is not back on solid ground because they have done everything to muddy the path and waste the money for the recovery.

IF A FARMER CAME ALONG WHAT WOULD HE DO TO GET YOUR PICKUP OUT OF THE DITCH. First he would tell you to get rid of all that extra weight in the pickup -(the excess spending and debt). Next he would deflate the tires -(reduce regulation to get better traction). Then he would put rocks and branches to make the ground more solid under the tires – (reduce taxes across the board). You then Steer back toward the road and drive out of the ditch.

MAY NOT BE THE PERFECT ANALOGY AND MANY MAY NOT AGREE – BUT WHAT DO YOU THINK ANYWAYS?
