How do I fix a credit problem on my ex-husband’s credit that was my fault?

My ex-husband and I have a credit card together and he is the primary card holder and I am an authorized user. I have used this card only the past couple of years and had been current on payments until 4 months ago. I had lost my job and really behind on most of my bills. He has just recently applied for a loan and got turned down because of me getting so behind on the payments. And now I am having to file bankruptcy and I will be including this debt with it. My question is how can he be removed from the card and have it taken off of his credit. It is my problem and I am taking the responsibility to have it included in the bankruptcy. I had asked the credit card company if there was a way he can be removed and have it placed in my name and they said no. I am wanting to know if there is any way that I can have him removed from it. I never wanted to hurt his credit but now I have and I am trying to fix it. Please help with any answers or suggestions. Thanks

Bankruptcy will remove your obligation to pay the bill…which you didn’t have in the first place because it’s not your card. It’s his.

    You can’t fix this.

If he is the account holder (and you just an "authorized user"), then the debt is legally his. You can’t include it in your bankruptcy.

A couple of your responders are right on. You’re the authorized user not the primary holder of the card and can’t include the debt in bankruptcy proceedings. I doubt if the account shows up on your credit.

    Best wishes
