15k isn’t that much when you think of terms of relinquishing additional money that you don’t originally have to pay your debts, not to mention most of these so call debt relief services are a scam, you can do every thing that they can do and save yourself the monthly service fees.

First make up a budget, list everything in order of priority, you know, food, housing, utilities, car, and such. Once you have all your priorities listed, spend everything on paper first. you will see how much you have to go towards your CC. Make minimum payments on the higher balanced cards while you try to pay off the lower balanced cards first. Don’t worry about the higher interest rate cards at first. you need to feel like your getting traction while paying this off. Every time you get one card paid off, (hopefully you learned your lesson and have already cut them up) apply that balance to the other card, so if you have been making a $25 payment on that card and the card you just paid off you were able to put $150, you now have $175 to go towards the next card. and so forth, each time you pay one off you are still working with the amount that you designated to pay off credit cards, but one you pay one off you apply more and more to the next ones in line. This way you feel like you are getting somewhere and when you see progress your more likely to stick with it. just don’t use those credit cards any more, you need something, save for it. It wouldn’t hurt to save a thousand for emergency, like a car issue or a water heater. Not for I wants.

Most are scams but some are legit. But none of them are doing anything you can’t do yourself. First, you must be serious about paying off your debt and meeting your responsibility. It will be hard work, but is a MUCH better option than BK or allowing the debt to go to collection where it can get very ugly.

Call your CC company and tell them your situation and let them know you really want to payoff your debt. It’s quite possible they’ll lower your interest rate and reduce/eliminate fees if they see you are serious about this. Once you have that done, make a realistic budget that allows you to send them money every month and then stick with that budget.

But you should be careful in choosing the company. It is safe to seek help from any reputed debt relief company. Such companies can handle it properly as they have enough experience in that field.

There are a number of ways you can tackle your debt. If you want to get the creditors off your back without filing for bankruptcy, you can negotiate with your creditors or even hire the services of a credit counselor or debt settlement firm who will negotiate with your creditors and help you establish a payment plan.

Debt settlement is the process in which you stop paying your creditors for some time and save that money so that you can then negotiate with them to settle the debt for a lesser amount. It is a program designed for consumers with serious debt problems who are unable to maintain payment obligations and are considering bankruptcy or credit counseling.

I took help of freedom debt relief to settle my debts. I have joined their debt settlement program one year back and almost debt free now. Call their toll free number to know more about their debt settlement program.
