collection agencies, Debt Consolidation, Fix My Credit, Questions

NO! They are as BIG of a scam as any credit card company and will ruin your credit forever! Trust me on this get an audio book by Dave Ramsey called "Total Money Makeover". He teaches you how to get out of debt fast and it could be done in as little as 90 days with a little hard work and a lot of discipline! I just purchased his audio books about 2 months ago and i am on my way to becoming debt free. I now have NO car payments or NO cell phone bills, and i sold a lot of stuff to lower my debt. There are a lot of things i am doing differently now that i see the whole picture that was described in Ramsey’s audio books. Good luck!

Debt solution companies do not do anything that you cannot do yourself, and the charge you a fee to do it.
Call the people you owe the money to, and talk with them. They would rather work with you, then send you to collections. Work out a payment plan, and stick to it.
Best of luck!

they didnt help me. With the economy in the crapper these days, these companies are running amok everywhere, and it seems not properly regulated. The credit card/banks do what they want anyway, they dont listen to these so called debt solution companies, who are taking desperate people’s $$. One more note-remember, most U.S. based student loans are secured debt-meaning you cant write it off with a bankruptcy or other insolvency. They can even go after tax refunds, lottery winnings, and in some cases, social security benefits, and they are exempt from many laws that regulate/limit collection aganecies harrasing you. Be careful with defaults on those student loans, try for a deferment or forebearnce to get time to pay those back. good luck to you

As you can see by some of the other answers here, there are some good and some bad debt solution companies out there. I did find this resource for you to try.

They list some different calculators that can help you understand different aspects of a debt solution and consolidation.
