Are there any credit repair companies that are legit?

I want to fix my credit fast, because I want to buy a new house in about 6 months. There a lost of credit repair companies out there. They say that they can remove bad hits on your credit report.

Has this worked for anyone? If so, which company? How much did you have to pay them? How much did your credit score increase? How long did it take?

Thanks a bunch!

Anyone you need to pay to fix your credit is probably a scam.

The best way to fix your credit is to first, get all three free credit reports to see what shows up. Go to http://www.annualcreditreport.com and get ALL THREE. You do not need your score, just the report. If you haven’t done it in the last year, it should be free.

Check your credit report for bad things and fraudulent behavior.

Open a checking or savings account and start saving your $$.

Pay off your credit card(s). If you don’t have one, get one, and pay it off each month. Responsible credit card practices builds credit. If you do have a credit card, you can call to ask if you can have your limit extended.

Pay down any other debt you have – car loans, student loans, etc.

    Keep saving. Save. Save. Save.

Your credit score will have a lot to do with your available credit vs. your used up credit. This is why you can expand your limit on your credit card, and lower your loan balances to increase your score. A bank will also look at what you have saved. That is part of why this is incredibly important.
